M4000 CNC Machine
Matt Truchinski Engineering
PATENTED Vertical CNC. 4' x 8' with 2 rotary axes. (Transportable)
Vertical Orientation for space savings. A horizontal table is difficult to walk or move equipment around in a one car garage, or in a two car garage with a vehicle occupying a space.
8" Rotary axes are built into the machine with material support. No extra footprint required for rotary axes. Two rotary axes allows one chuck to be configured for one type of material, and the second for a different size or type.
Machine is transportable, it contains locking castor wheels for movement within a shop or loaded onto a flatbed trailer and driven to a worksite. Most existing plasma machines cannot be moved without a forklift.
A 4'x8' sheet may need a drywall lift to load the material. I usually load a 4'x4' sheet on one side and use the remaining space for other materials. A 4'x4' machine costs almost the same as a 4'x8', There are no plans to be cheaper with less capacity. The vertical orientation already saves space.
Horizontal table is in the works. Basically the same machine with legs.
A shroud is planned, however, grinding the dross creates the same amount of particulates.
2nd Prototype, work in progress.
Upper chuck is for profiles up to 8" in diameter. Lower chuck is a standard 6" three jaw chuck.
Single car garage, space savings
Machine is designed for vertical bed operation for smallest footprint, maximum capacity. It is possible to walk around the machine, move toolboxes, compressors, and load material.
PatentED, THE Deuce, 2 Rotary Drives with material support.
Machine is designed to drive 2 rotary chucks. Chucks may be configured for different profiles (rounds, squares, rectangles, channels, I beams, and more)
Rotary Axis (X,Y,Z,A) 8” diameter round parts accepted, 8 feet lengths or more. Translating tailstock with live center included for long tubes/profiles.
48” x 96” Sheet Capacity
Largest capacity with minimum footprint. Vertical workpiece allows minimum workspace and storage space (when compared to horizontal bed).
250+ inches per minute cutting feedrate. 500+ ipm rapid
Massive Nema 34 Stepper motors (no motors on moving axes)
Vice and magnets work well for holding steel sheets. Small parts, tubes, squares, rectangles can be placed in vices for exact location and repeat parts. Aluminum, Stainless, and other non-magnetic sheets are clamped to the vertical workspace with clamps.
Dedicated CNC Plasma Controller with 15" Touchscreen, (controller does not use windows operating system, boots less than 10 seconds)
Transportable, can be moved within a garage or shop. Machine can be loaded into a flatbed trailer.
SheetCam is a very affordable post processor. Converts dxf files to g code. www.sheetcam.com
I built my first cnc with parts from www.buildyourcnc.com
CNC is much more affordable today.
